Are you interested in learning about library governance? Need some volunteer hours? Do you want to make sure that the voices of high schoolers are heard? Consider serving on the Wilsonville Public Library Board as the Student Liaison.

This advisory (non-voting) position is an excellent opportunity to learn about civic involvement and the inner workings of local government, as well as a great way to support the library. The person in this position will gain valuable experience, and get the chance to meet and work with some of Wilsonville’s most influential residents.

The Library Board supports and assists the Director in all library planning. Board members advise the Director in preparing and presenting the annual library budget request, and they strive to keep City Council and the Wilsonville community informed of library activities and developments. Board members meet once per month (either in person or remotely), on the 4th Wednesday, from 6:30-7:30 pm. Information and past minutes and agendas are available here: https://www.wilsonvillelibrary.org/bc-lib.

The Student Liaison:
•    Must be enrolled at a local high school
•    Attends some of the library’s teen programs each month, including the Teen Advisory Board (more info is available here: https://www.wilsonvillelibrary.org/lib/page/teen-advisory-board
•    Communicates with the library’s Youth Services staff
•    Attends the monthly Board meetings to report on youth programs, and also to provide feedback when needed
•    Serves as an ambassador for the library to the high school

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. The Student Liaison generally serves until graduating from high school. Applicants must complete a City of Wilsonville Volunteer Application, and parent/guardian permission is required for applicants under age 18. If you have questions, please contact Youth Services at teens@wilsonvillelibrary.org (503-682-1592).

Thanks for helping the library connect with all its users!
